The 17 April is World Malbec Day and it has been celebrated in Ireland on the 11th of April this year with collaboration of the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Dublin and Wines of Argentina at Dublin’s Merrion Hotel. The theme of the 6th Argentine Wine Fair is “Malbec you know it and you don’t”. A themed table was highlighted the regionality and individual vineyard styles of Malbec available.
The bottle that I am holding was my favorite one out of many wines coming from Argentina. Alta Visto Alto 2010 is a blend of Malbec and Caberbet Sauvignon which is aged separately during 18 months in new French oak barrels. Black fruits, sweet spices and chocolate notes are beautifully presented in this silky smooth wine. Thanks to Mitchell & Son for importing this beauty to Ireland!
The wines presented in the 2018 Argentine Fair include: Alta Vista, Altos Las Hormigas, Amalaya, Andeluna Cellars, Barbarian, Bodega Callia, Clos de Chacras, Bodega Colomé, Bodega la Rosa, Domaine Bousquet, Doña Paula, Bodega Fabre, Frexinet, Hess Family Estates, Kaiken, Finca Buenaventura, Finca Las Moras, Finca Sophenia, Bodega Luigi Bosca, Masi Tupengato, Mendel, Proemio Wines, Bodega y Viñedos Renacer S.A., Bodegas Salentein and Trapiche.
