Languedoc Wines Tasting

The first wine tasting event of Vinifera EuroMaster Batch10 was held on October 12th, 2016 at the tasting room of Institut des Hautes Études de la Vigne et du Vin – Montpellier SupAgro. 3 whites and 4 reds from Languedoc region of France were tasted at the event, moderated by Samuel Kozlowski, which was attended by approximately 30 people.

  1. Font-Mars _ Picpoul de Pinet 2015 W

Grape Variety: 100% Piquepoul

Alc: 12.5% Vol.

Appellation: Picpoul de Pinet

Harvest : in the middle of September, during night time

Vinification: De-Stemming cold pellicular maceration, pneumatic pressing, racking of the must and fermentation at low temperature (15-17°C) during 20 days with daily control of specific gravities.

Grape Variety: 80% Roussane, 20% Marsanne

Alc: 13% Vol.

Soil Type: Clay-limestone soil and stony red clay

Vinification: Direct pressure, less stirred, fermentation in temperature-controlled vats. Naturally-occurring yeast and low sulphiting.

Ageing: For 80%, 10 months heat-regulated on fine lees, for 20%, 10 months in demi-muid barrels made from French oak

Grape Variety: 45% Roussane, 45% Bourboulenc , 10% Grenache Blanc

Soil type: hilly terraces formed from limestone/clay.

Vinification: Long maceration of 28 days with frequent lees circulation

Ageing: 18 months in casks
