My last visit to Suvla Wines was on August, 2015 with a friend of mine. We had a fantastic time there and tasted superb reds. Later the same day, we had a winery tour under the guidance of Oenologue Dimitar Dimov, he gave us very interesting informations about their winemaking process.
After few months later, today, I thought it is the time to taste more wines from Suvla and have some brilliant food. As always, the team of Suvla was welcoming and friendly. This time I used my chance to taste whites and tasted Suvla Chardonnay 2015, Suvla Sauvignon Blanc 2015 and Suvla Sauvignon Blanc & Semillon 2014. Suvla Chardonnay 2015 was golden yellow with green hues; fruity aromas of green apple and pear are well accompanied by citrus and mineral notes. Suvla Sauvignon Blanc 2015 was pale yellow-green with bright clarity; fruity aromas of peach and sweet pear with a good natural acidity persist on the long, fresh finish. Suvla Sauvignon Blanc & Semillon 2014 was showing a straw-yellow colour with light shades of green, rich floral smell and superb structure which is easy drinking and refreshing.
After tasting those charming wines, I ordered a pizza with minced beef, mozzarella, caramelized onion, and tomato sauce which is cooked in a stone oven. It was delicious! While I was eating my pizza, I heard someone was saying to me ‘’Afiyet Olsun’’ which means ‘’Enjoy your Meal’’ in English. He was the Viticultural Consultant of Suvla, Mark Sims. Surely, he was one of the most friendly people working in wine industry in Turkey that I have met. We had a very nice chat and I could say, I have learnt a lot from him in a very short time, about industry and life.
